In 1977 Brian Hufford founded Hufford Financial Advisors, an independent, fee-based financial planning firm working exclusively with dentists nationwide. Today, Hufford employs an experienced staff of Investment Adviser Representatives, Certified Financial Planners, and Certified Public Accountants who assist clients in the areas of retirement and estate planning, tax and investment planning, and practice transition strategies. Recently, the firm became the exclusive financial planning partner of the Academy of General Dentistry, a professional trade association with 35,000 members.

Joining Hufford Financial Advisors in August of 2006, Kim Graham Lee brought a wealth of marketing, client service, and organizational leadership experience to the company, utilizing her 20 years with a global marketing research firm and her more recent experience leading three technology-based entrepreneurial firms. CEO Brian Hufford promoted Lee to President of the company in November of 2006, and it was then that Lee contacted Tom Gabbert of Milestone Advisors. According to Lee, Hufford Financial Advisors had been tremendously successful focusing on the financial needs of its clients but “we needed a dedicated resource to focus on Hufford’s business”.

Gabbert has helped Hufford Financial Advisors by putting together financial reporting tools with metrics that help management better assess the company’s performance, or as Lee puts it, a “financial scorecard”. According to Lee, “we didn’t have the financial reports that we could have to help us better understand the story of the business”. Gabbert has also worked with Hufford to implement a new time tracking and billing system and is currently helping Lee with the budget process.

Hufford Financial Advisors is poised to grow in the upcoming year and Lee will be working with Milestone Advisors on a strategic growth plan that will “go deeper into what makes sense for our business.
