With a focus on the home improvement, construction, and building supply industries, The Farnsworth Group is a market research and strategy consulting firm that assists its clients in gathering and using information to formulate the most viable and opportunistic strategies for their businesses. The company operates a 60 station call center in Bloomington, Indiana (”Stone Research Services”) which offers telephone and online data collection, coding, and data tabulation. A separate operation, “SpecPan”, uses Internet technology to deliver a service that pairs the cost-effective, flexible and timely process of Internet-based research with the company’s own knowledge of the research industry, delivering convenient, quality business-to-business and business-to-consumer panels. Combined, Farnsworth employs 140 people.
The company’s CEO is Bradley Farnworth, while Jim Robisch serves as COO. Robisch hired Milestone Advisors three years ago because he wanted an improved system of accounting and better financial information. Currently, three Milestone Advisors professionals serve Farnsworth’s financial and accounting needs. “Milestone has become our accounting department. Everyone at Farnsworth considers them as being part of out company staff,” says Robisch.
Susie Everett, a Milestone employee, is responsible for payroll and for the financial aspects of the Farnsworth benefit area, including 401ks and insurance. Another Milestone employee, Mary Anne Taggart, covers accounts receivable and payables. While Farnsworth works with a large number of vendors and clients, the A/R and A/P responsibilities do not warrant a full-time position and Mary Anne is available to work based on Farnsworth’s specific needs. Milestone’s Krenta Juday serves as the company controller and is responsible for producing the monthly financials and helping management project receivables, manage cash flow, and ensure the accounting process flows smoothly.
